Know who does what before it happens

School Safety Planning, First Aid and Emergency Preparedness

Most school health emergencies are handled well when everyone already knows their role. Educure helps schools put together a practical health and safety plan — risk review, contacts, first-aid roles, drills, incident records and hospital referral arrangements — that staff can actually follow.

School nurse and staff reviewing a first-aid and emergency plan

Start with a simple risk review

A useful plan begins with the school's real situations: playground and sports injuries, allergic reactions, asthma, fainting, seizures in children with known conditions, heat-related illness, transport incidents and events off campus. Each campus is different, so the review looks at your grounds, timings, age groups and distance to hospital.

The output is a short list of likely incidents and what the school will do for each, rather than a long document nobody reads.

Roles, contacts and first aid

Every plan needs named roles: who gives first aid, who calls parents, who calls emergency services, who accompanies a child to hospital and who records the incident. Backups are needed for every role.

Contact lists should include parents' emergency numbers, the nearest hospitals, ambulance services and the school's medical support. Educure can run first-aid awareness sessions for teachers and support staff that match the plan's roles.

  • Named first-aid responders and backups
  • Parent and hospital contact lists
  • Ambulance and referral arrangements
  • First-aid awareness for staff
  • Care plans for children with known conditions

Drills and incident records

Plans improve when they are practised. Short drills — for example, responding to an allergic reaction during lunch or an injury on the sports field — show gaps in contacts, keys, equipment or communication.

Every incident should be recorded: what happened, what was done, who was informed and what follow-up is needed. Reviewing incidents each term helps the school prevent repeats.

What this service does and does not cover

Educure helps plan the health and first-aid parts of school safety and supports staff awareness. We do not certify buildings, fire systems or transport, and we do not claim that a plan makes a school legally compliant with any specific rule.

Safety requirements from your board, state and local authorities can change. Schools should confirm current official requirements; we can help organise the health-related evidence.

How the program works

Child Medical Checkup

A child medical checkup organised by the school is most useful when parents understand it before the day and know exactly what to do after it. Educure plans the consent, the screening and the follow-up so each family receives a clear report and every flagged concern has a next step.

School Clinic Services

A school clinic is the place a child goes when they feel unwell, get hurt or need a regular medicine during the day. Educure helps schools decide what their clinic should handle, staff it, equip it and keep proper records — with clear rules for when a child needs to go home or to hospital.

School Infirmary Services

A school infirmary should be easy to reach, private enough for a child to rest, clean, and stocked for the kind of care the school has agreed to provide. Educure helps schools plan a new medical room or review an existing one, and sets up a simple operating workflow for staff.

Student Medical Reports

A student medical report should tell a parent, in plain language, what was checked, what was found and what to do next. Educure's digital reports and health records are built around that goal, with access limited to the people who genuinely need it.
