Oral health: the most under-treated problem in school camps

Dental caries is found in a majority of children we chart, yet it is the least likely finding to be acted upon at home. Awareness changes that.

Charting, not glancing

A dental surgeon charting each child tooth by tooth produces a record parents can act on, unlike a one-line note that says 'dental caries present'.

The report should name the affected teeth, the severity and whether the child needs urgent treatment or routine review.

Awareness closes the treatment gap

Schools that pair charting with a brushing-technique session and a parent circular see markedly higher treatment follow-through than schools that send the report alone.
